What are we watching?

Want to talk about some nifty piece of media that isn't Neil-related? This is the place to do it.

Yesterday I had some decent speeds and downloaded the first two eps of Doom Patrol. I assumed that they were placed in viewing order, but apparently they were not and I watched ep 2 first. um. As if the show wasn’t already confusing. I downloaded some more for tonight.
Is Doom Patrol on HBOMax? It'd better be.

After others recommended it, have delved into Irregulars and it fills that niche form of escapism Fate/Winx and Warrior Nun had filled.

Wrestlemania was poop. I mean poop. Glad it was free for me.

Falcon/Winter Soldier? Gave up on it.

Next big media thing I'm looking forward to is Mortal Kombat but I'm not expecting that to be high drama. :D

Gave in and watched Ep. 4 and was more interested in my Chromebook than what was on the screen. Too grim and gritty and NOT FUN, which is a weird statement coming from a Punisher fan.

Watching Lucifer, which is fun and does have moments where it feels almost a little Sandman-y, at least moreso than I expected, but boy is it a heteronormative take on the character, which I'm sure you wouldn't get in a Gaiman version of the character, especially since the show's Lucifer is actually similar to Desire.

Which season are you on? I vaguely remember in later seasons where he kissed a man on the way out of orgy/party. He made a few remarks, occasionally.

I kinda started watching the new stuff that migrated to Netflix, but never finished it up. Dev liked it though, and he’s annoyed that I didn’t finish it.

I'm in season 4 (the first season after it moved to Netflix.)

Yeah, every now and then they make a mention of another guy being in a threesome or orgy with Lucifer when they want to make him seem REALLY naughty, but only in the context of being with other women to make it absolutely clear that Lucifer is "all man". And while most women on the show react to him with lust (I mean, Tom Ellis, so I get it), but guys generally only react to him in fear (or anger.) Also, when Charlotte was on, they played off the Oedipal humor a lot, which was an...interesting choice.

I'm not really bothered by it, but sometimes it seems a little silly.

It's a fun little show for a wacky police procedural.

I keep meaning to catch it since the move to Netflix, but haven't gotten around to it quite yet.

Saw the 20th anniversary re-showing (technically the 19th) of LOTR: The Two Towers. The film still holds up and gives me goosebumps (NOT DURING THE SHADOWFAX PONY SCENE THANKYOUVERYMUCH  ) but the CGI is showing its age and I've seen it enough to start noticing technical glitches like:

- In the Isengard birthing mines, Saruman tells a grunt to "send out your warg riders", the grunt moves his jaw like he's saying something but there's no speech

- going into the Rohan Main Hall, Gandalf fools the guard into keeping his 'walking stick' and Gandalf begins using it a such. Camera inside the Hall on Gandalf has him holding his staff like parallel to the ground. Next shot, behind Gandalf, walking stick again. Next shot, facing Gandalf, parallel to the ground again

A loving remaster of the films would be nice, as long as they don't Lucas them up.
